When I told you I was tired in Anita, it occurred to me that I needed to tell you how hectic it is. The film Top of the Lake began at 9:00 a.m. but we had to be in the ticketed viewer line at least a half-hour before doors opened. There is also a standby line and if you aren’t there your seat is given away.
Then there is parking.
Films are shown at 9 locations in Park City and there are tons of people everywhere. Parking is terrible in Park City on a good day so forget that during Sundance. It is not like going to a movie at a shopping mall. For example, on Monday morning when all 5 of us were going to an 8:30 a.m. showing, we had to be in the car shortly after 7 a.m. to drive to the Eccles Center parking lot. We waited there for a city bus that would drop us off at the Library Center Theatre. We waited in a line in a tent outside the library until the doors opened, then climbed 2 flights of stairs to the theater and were early enough to get seats in the second row. You want to be up front for the Q&A.
Be sure you wear walking shoes or comfortable boots. It was cold and snowy. And slippery in some places. Not complaining though. It was total fun.
