I get lots of flack from my friends about watching and shopping on HSN and QVC. But as the trend toward online shopping increases, so does the quality of products on these shopping channels. But last week Oz the Great and Powerful was on HSN for three exciting and entertaining days.
In celebration of the release of this extraordinary film, HSN organized 3 days of “Wickedly Beautiful” merchandise designed and “created in the spirit of the movie.” Eight months before the event they contacted designers such as Naeem Khan, Adrienne Landau, Steve Madden, Heidi Daus, Badgley and Mischka, Jean Dousset, and even David’s Cookies, inviting them to participate in making this a “one-of-a kind shopping event.”
Result was three lines of fashion and jewelry identified as the styles of each of the three OZ witches, Evanora, Theodora and Glinda. And what a line up:
- Heidi Daus “Emerald City” crystal-accent necklace item #238-125
- Naeem Khan sequin and tulle dress item #230-629
- Jean Dousset Simulated emerald and black CZ 2 1/16″ drop earrings item #227-387
- Naeem Khan Full Feather Cape in black or dark green item #230-658 (Fantastic!)
- Steve Madden high heeled Beaded Sandal in black or gold item #226-459 (To die for.)
- Adrienne Landau Feather Strappy Heels in red or black, M or W width item #233-504
- Carol Brodie Carnelian Station and Black Spinel 36″ necklace item #225-320
- American Glamour Badgley Mischka peasant dress item #230-743
- Jean Dousset .99 Ct. CZ Pave “Feather” Bypass ring item#227-392 (Nice and big.)
- Madame Alexander collector dolls, one for each of the witches
- David’s Cookies Oz Crown Cookie Jar filled with shortbread cookies item #240-049
- And many more unique offerings.
They also had clips from the movie and interviews with stars, costume designers, film editors, etc. I had it on in my kitchen all three days. It was so much fun to watch. I had to sit on myself not to buy the feather cape. Never saw anything like it before.
While I am plugging shopping channels, Isaac Mizrahi has a line of women’s clothing on QVC that is well made, colorful, up to the minute and very wearable. He is on for an hour every Monday evening at 10:00 p.m. with Shawnie Sue (QVC host Shawn Killinger). They are so fun together I would watch them even if I didn’t buy. But I do. My family and friends all have Isaac’s cardigans, scarves and tees. Beautiful stuff at moderate prices.
